Hiragana Flashcards Word List

This is a post for beginners who haven’t learnt Japanese hiragana. I’ve heard someone just staring at the hiragana chart for a week but learnt nothing. I suggest, don’t read or try to remember hiragana chart even with romaji. Please only use hiragana characters chart when you learn to write.

What should you do when you learn hiragana? Use flashcards. There are a lot of online resources, some of then even voiced and with romaji. Voiced? OK. Romaji? No. Don’t use romaji anymore.

Here’s a website for Japanese kids learning hiragana. You can click those green “ダウンロード” buttons to download printable PDF files.

Those words are better selected, you can think it as those English words like “apple”, “ant”, “bag” in phonics book or sight words list.

Besides, I added more words, so that we’ve got a new word list. You can use pictures to learn hiragana by reading words. When you could do it better, you can print the word list below and try to read.

I am not sure whether I would design my own cards.

Here we go!
