My Second Half of 2024 Learning Plan

Reading

I hope to read 20 magazines in the second half of the year. This is a conservative estimate, as I can probably read 3 monthly magazines based on my current pace. I spent a lot of time reading different magazines in the first half of the year, so I have basic knowledge in various fields and don’t need to spend much time just collecting information.

Online Courses

I hope to have more time to take online courses. I have subscribed to four or five courses on Coursera. Each course requires me to follow certain steps to practice and not just be a video viewer. I hope to complete this part before September.

English Language

I hope to consolidate my English speaking and writing skills. Since I already have a lot of note-taking materials and good reading habits, I don’t need to stick to the sample essays in test guidebooks. With the help of AI, like Chatgpt and Gemini, I can make my expressions more precise. I don’t want to use too many technical terms or grandiose words, so I don’t plan to involve too much academic material. Instead, I’m more interested in everyday language.

Mathematics

I bought my new math textbooks, The Calculus Lifesaver and Linear Algebra and Its Applications and I want to start a systematic study. I will open a new item on my blog menu. I still have painful memories of learning math in high school, but I hope to overcome those memories. Online videos will help me a lot (thanks to my future Indian teachers). I will need new study habits, as math is a subject that requires hands-on work. I have a general idea of the fields where math is used, so my goals are clear. However, I don’t have a clear study plan or structure yet. This is a new stage for me, so I bought a color-printed math textbook, even though it’s a bit more expensive than a black-and-white one. I think the color will make me more willing to open the book.

The first half of the year has been very fulfilling for me, but if I want to have a positive and upward life, I still need to work harder. In the past, I always thought that I should work harder in learning English and marketing. I also worried about spending all my time reading and not having much social interaction. Now I don’t think about these things anymore. Looking back, I know my life is not repetitive, boring, tired, or draining. Looking forward, I also know how to become more professional, simple, and straightforward. That’s enough.
