Last night, as I was walking home, I was startled by the shrill cries of a cat coming from a nearby wall. Initially, I thought the sound was coming from the trees above, but after some searching, I realized the source was much lower. I stepped closer, turned on my flashlight and noticed a tiny black kitten, huddled in the narrow gap between two walls, trembling with fear.
It was unclear whether this tiny, vulnerable creature had been deliberately abandoned in this isolated space or had somehow wandered into the gap. Someone had placed a long bar into the gap, creating a makeshift slope to help the kitten climb out on its own. Despite my efforts to coax the kitten out, it remained too frightened to move. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take it home with me since my rented room doesn’t allow pets. As I lay in bed that night, I was filled with sadness as I continued to hear its pitiful cries echoing outside my window.
This morning, I returned to the same quiet spot by the wall, only to find the bar had disappeared and all that remained was a stick on the ground. I can only hope that the little black kitten found a new home, safe from harm.
However, the experience made me reflect on the plight of abandoned cats and pets in general. It’s not just about showing love and compassion by feeding a stray animal; the deeper issue lies with those who claim to be “pet lovers” but abandon their pets the moment they become a burden. This raises serious ethical questions about the responsibility and commitment that come with owning an animal. Too often, people fail to realize that pets require care, patience, and long-term dedication. Discarding them when things become inconvenient is not only irresponsible but also deeply cruel. We need to foster a society that encourages responsible pet ownership and discourages this careless behavior, for the sake of all animals who, like the kitten I encountered, rely on human kindness for their survival.

Drafted Diary
Last night, when I was on my way home I heard some shrike meows from the wall. I looked up the trees but found nothing, then I noticed the sounds comes from below. I walked nearer to the gap between the two walls, and saw a black kitty.
I wasn’t sure if this pitty tiny creature was abandoned into this gap, not a carton box instead. Someone has put a long bar into the gap to make a slope so that the kitten could climb outside itself.I failed to lure it out because it was too frightened.Besides,I couldn’t pet it in my renting room.I was sad for hearing it crying all night long outside my window.
This morning, when I woke up,I come to this quiet wall. There was only a stick on the ground, and the wooden bar was disappeared.
I believe this lucky black kitty has got it’s new home. But I was concerned about other abandoned cats.I am not talking about to show your love and mercy to feed a cat, but some so-called cat lovers abandoned their pets when they think the pets become a burden. We the society should discourage irresponsible behavior and be kind pet keepers.
